Havana, (Prensa Latina).- About 10,000 Cuban students are currently
interested in entering Teachers Training Schools at the 2010-2011
school year beginning in September, said authorities from this sector.<br />
Cuban educational authorities today announced that admission to
university will be in accordance with the needs of the economy, and
they anticipated a decline from previous years for the course 2010-2011.
University admissions this year will depend on "the needs of the
nation's economy for the formation of professionals," said René Sánchez
Díaz, director of Admissions and Placement of the Higher Education
Ministry, as quoted by the daily Juventud Rebelde.<br />
The book Tampa en Martí which will come to light soon under the Vigía
publishing house, from Matanzas, will include in its design tobacco
leaves from the Alejandro Robaina tobacco plantation, the best tobacco
producer in Cuba, says AIN.
The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Cuba is now 10 years
old, and has an enrollment of 10,000 students from dozens of countries,
who are studying to be doctors without any cost for their families.<br />
A conference dedicated to bring new generations closer to the knowledge
of educational exact and natural sciences will start on Tuesday in this
capital in the presence of experts from eight Latin American countries,
Europe and the United States.
Cuban Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communication Boris
Moreno was honorary guest on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of
INDIASOFT2010, an event on information technologies in which experts
from around 50 countries are participating.
