Marathon swim: Nyad defies the sea

MIAMI.Nyad's team said early Sunday in a website update that a so-called "staged swim record" would still be valid as long as she was on the boat only for treatment and not to rest _ rather than a nonstop record. It didn't elaborate on the specific treatment she received or how long she was out of the water, but added she resumed her swimming quest at the exact spot where she had paused for medical help. Diana Nyad presses ahead in Cuba-Florida swim

Cuban String Quartet to Festival in Nicaragua

Cuba to access global pharmaceutical markets via Brazil

<p style="text-align: justify;">Just as Ecuador is buying hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Cuban drugs and vaccines, the island’s budding pharmaceutical industry is trying to access more developing markets by way of Brazil. Brazilian Health Minister Alexandre Rocha Santos Padilha and his Cuban peer, Roberto Morales, signed a memorandum of understanding Thursday in Havana under which Brazil will make and distribute a Cuban diabetes drug and 11 cancer products.
