Cuba remembers start of revolution amid economic changes

In Jeffrey Milstein's "Cuba: In The Streets," the Caribbean island is a place of reluctant modernization, in which streets seem empty even with cars passing through and wet clothes hang against the stony facades of buildings. Cuba marks Revolution Day at economic crossroads

Instead, Cubans heard from the president's second in comand, who offered few new details while hitting standard themes such as organization, discipline and economic reform. Forty U.S Citizens Get Cuban Medical Degrees

<p style="text-align: justify;">HAVANA, July 26 (BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA) - In spite of the U.S anti-Cuba economic, commercial and financial blockade, 40 U.S citizens were awarded medical degrees (BMD) after finishing their studies here and new scholarships are also being granted to low-income American youths. The new medical graduates studied at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and received their degrees at a ceremony attended by members of the U.S 22nd Pastors for Peace Caravan that arrived here on July 22. Tropical wave over Cuba moving west toward Gulf of Mexico

The good news: there is a low chance - nearly zero percent - that it will grow into a tropical depression or storm over the next few days.&nbsp; This is due mainly to the system's interaction with land.It's moving quickly toward the west at 20 mph.Locally heavy rain and gusty winds are expected over Cuba and the Bahamas today.&nbsp; The system could bring stormy weather to the Bay area by mid-week.Elsewhere, all is quiet in the tropics.
