Cuban Yargelis Savigne Wins Second Gold at IAAF’s 2011 Diamond League

Chinese oil company signs offshore agreement

<p style="text-align: justify;">After at least two years of ‘false alarms’ from U.S. politicians about Chinese oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, Chinese state oil company CNPC on June 5 agreed to contract five blocks in Cuban waters.Chinese involvement in offshore drilling in Cuba near U.S. waters is a politically sensitive issue in Washington.CNPC will expand cooperation with CubaPetróleo (Cupet) in “exploring and developing new onshore and offshore oil blocks in Cuba,” CNPC said in a terse press release, without providing any details. Cuba to produce biolarvicides to fight malaria

<p style="text-align: justify;">Accra, June 9, GNA – The MOH is negotiating with Cuba to build a factory in Ghana to produce biolarvicides, the needed ingredients for biological elimination of malaria parasites.The MOH has therefore signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Labiofam Group Limited of Cuba under the National Malaria Control programme to produce the biolarvicides.Malaria is the leading cause of death in Ghana and causes huge economic burden for the health sector.
