USA Criticized in WTO case against Cuba

<p style="text-align: justify;">The United States was isolated again in its refusal to abide by the agreements of the World Trade Organization (WTO), relating to the misappropriation of Cuban trademarks for rum.During the session of the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of the WTO in Geneva, representatives of Washington presented their report in which they endorse their failure to comply with the recommendations, a position much criticized by many countries.The USA is violating the intellectual property in a litigation involving the Cuban rum "Havana Club"and the French company Pernod Ricard, for the use of the brand name by its competitor Bacardi in U.S. territory. Wyoming osprey back from trip to Cuba, Mexico

Two of three osprey fitted with satellite tracking devices in Grand Teton National Park last fall have returned after migrating thousands of miles to Mexico and Cuba, researchers said.The three birds — two adult males and a juvenile female — were captured by Grand Teton and Craighead Beringia South biologists on Jackson Lake using a device called a “floating fish snare.” The park’s senior wildlife biologist, Steve Cain, invented the trap. Cuba interior commerce chief out, No. 2 promoted

Cuban singer to go on US tour in June

Communist Party sets date for conference

<p style="text-align: justify;">Setting political reform into motion after ratifying a 313-point economic reform package, the Communist Party scheduled a national conference for Jan. 28.The central issues of the meeting will be “to evaluate the Party’s work” and “determining necessary transformations” to Party statutes and structures, an announcement in the Juventud Rebelde newspaper said. The party that is formally the leading state institution has played a tag-along and low-profile role, and the historic leadership sees reviving the institution as a crucial last task before leaving the stage. Garcia Oliveras was made public in Havana on May 24 on the occasion of his 121st birth anniversary (May 19, 1980-2011). Speaking at the ceremony, held by the Institute of International Relations (IIR) under the Cuban Foreign Ministry, IIR Director Isabel Allende praised the life and revolutionary career of late President Ho Chi Minh, who devoted all of his life to the struggle for national independence and liberation. Liem finishes second at Havana chess tournament
