Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, introduced two new texts at the International Book Fair, about the Cuban Five, imprisoned in U.S. since 1998.

Before a large audience, among whom were relatives of the Five, Nicolás Guillén hall was the scene of the launching of a new edition of United States vs. Five Heroes, by Dr. Rodolfo Dávalos, and “Les debo verlos libres” (I Owe Them Seeing Them Free), by Celia María Hart Santamaria.

Davalos’s book compiles a series of 80 articles published in the newspaper Juventud Rebelde, collected in a previous edition and now expanded by the Editorial Capitán San Luis.

”Les debo verlos libres”, by Celia María Hart, who died recently, contains exchanged letters and articles related to the Five, and belongs to the Special Editions of José Martí Cultural Society.

Alarcon described Davalos’work as a tool of combat and about Celia Maria, he said that thousands books like this can be made, because there are thousands of people around the world who keep correspondence with our five comrades.

The also member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba explained that this is a decisive year in order to achieve the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez.

The only way to get an end to this outrageous injustice against the Five he explained, is through political struggle, denouncing and mobilization.

He added that in this battle for the liberation of the Cuban Five, capable people are needed in order to clarify, explain and convince about their monitoring activities against terrorism by extreme right groups of Cuban origin in Miami, but above all,
to do it with love and passion.

”Let’s not forget,” Alarcon pointed out, “that if they are in prison it is for us, that if they lost their freedom was by their selfless struggle against terrorism, and the least that this people can do is restore some of that love.
