Authors under 40 years old or even younger from Latin American and the Caribbean will be able to take part in the First Competition Novela ALBA Narrativa 2010, which will promote the work of the writers from this geographical area.

Important storytellers from the region will be jury of the competition, which is called by the Cultural Fund of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America and the Cuban Dulce Maria Loynaz Cultural Centre.

According to the requirements of the competition, it is open to Latin American and Caribbean creators, no matter where they live, and the works should be original, unpublished and must not be compromised with any publishing houses or literary agent.

The novels should be written in Spanish with free topic and a maximum from 120 and until 400 pages (180 thousand to 600 thousand characters) under a pseudonym. The name of the author, photocopy of the ID card, postal address, telephone number,
e-mail and a brief CV should be sent in a closed envelope.

Materials should be sent, before the 28 of January 2010 to the Dulce María Loynaz, Calle 19 y E, El Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución. They can also be sent to the e-mail [email protected].

The results will be published a month later at the Cuban International Book Fair, in Havana.

The ALBA Narrativa Award consists in the publication of the awarded work, a diploma and 15 thousand US Dollars or its equivalent in the currency of the country of residence of the winner.

The monetary retribution will cover the payments for authors’ rights of a first edition of up to 10 thousand copies, made by ALBA Cultural Fund.
