Group coordinator Jose Candido highlighted that Alicia and the Cuban National Ballet are not only a school of reference for the Brazilian people, but also a sign of the dignity with which brave people have been able to put their country's name up, challenging the empire's ambitions.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of the first Brazilian Committee for the Release of the Five, Max Altman, said the cultural manifestations made possible thanks to the work of the Cuban Revolution are present in all aspects the life.
Cuba's General Consul in Sao Paulo Carlos Trejo stressed the homage was not only a recognition to Alicia's generous, dignifying, constant work, but also to the Cuban culture and Revolution.
Alicia Alonso thanked the acknowledgment, calling it a tribute to the Cuban people, its President Raul Castro, the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the Cuban Five.
