The Cuban Group Vocal Sampling returns to Bogota
They, who seem as if they make up a complete orchestra, really produce sounds created by their voices a capella. Every instrument of the Latin orchestra –percussion, winds, keyboards, bass- are reproduced through vocal rhythms that range from the guaracha and the boleros to the son and the salsa.

Based on Cuban traditional music, but also influenced strongly by modern salsa, jazz and fusion, Vocal Sampling shows a variety of original compositions as well as versions that have been ingeniouslyb arranged for their a capella format.

Cuba´s rich musical heritage, their home country, fills them with inspiration for their constant work. From modern salsa to son, the concerts by Vocal Sampling have something within and spread the life rhythms and colors of their diverse culture.

Its members, all of whom are carreer instrument musicians, met each other in the Havana National Music School and a short while later, in 1989, they created the unique sound of Vocal Sampling. From that moment onwards the group has earned the attention of artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon.

In 1996, they were invited to perform in the Montrreux Jazz Festival together with artists such as Chaka Khan, Phil Collins, Mick Hucknall, Toots Thielemans and others, in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Quincy Jones´ musical career.

Vocal Sampling will be performing in Bogota once again. This time it will do so on May 8 and 9 at eight o´clock in the evening in the Colsibsidio Theater.
