Punto de encuentro a tribute to the 10th Havana Biennial exhibition
Kcho declared at the San Francisco de Asis convent that it is the only biennial exhibition in the world that has a truly love for art, that art that is made in the so called “periphery” countries and created new ways of getting closer to the creators in their own environment.

He indicated that, as part of the comprehensive initiative of the Third World, Cuban specialists are travelling through Latin American, Asian and African countries, in search of practically unknown and original talents to promote their art.

Kcho explained that Punto de Encuentro gathers together creators, he knew in the Sao Paulo, Venice and Del Fin del Mundo (Argentina) Biennial exhibitions and conceive their work as a tool to change reality and build a better world.

Simultaneously with this project, he is sponsoring the camps at the La Cabaña ditch with a group of young people with outstanding work in the Martha Machado brigades.

They came to the places that were more devastated by the hurricanes that hit Cuba in 2008, actions that did with the purpose of contributing to the spiritual and material reconstruction of those places.

Both initiatives are interconnected, since foreign artists, all of them very famous ones on a world level, Exchange and dialogue with young artists, through conferences, book presentations and a complete cultural program.

Among the invited artists who are already working in Havana are the Brazilian Flaminio Jallegeas and Patricia Gerber, who immediately answered the call issued by Kcho and created two suggestive proposals.

Flaminio, who took part in the 9th Havana Biennial exhibition, brings a video performance about a room in Sao Paulo, from which disappear several objects and which image will be projected over a similar one in the Cuban capital.

Patricia, who is a defender of women rights, appropriated a colonial fountain in the central patio of the San Francisco de Asis convent, in which she will create a performance about fertility, abundance and menstrual periods.
