During the signing ceremony the Chilean representatives were symbolically given the Chilean filmic patrimony, preserved by the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), a gesture acknowledged by Chile’s Film Archives Ignacio Aliaga.
ICAIC president Omar Gonzalez said the Chilean archives were preserved amidst difficult material shortage undergone by Cuba; he explained that Cuba will not get rid of such materials, but share them with Chile where they belong.
Michelle Bachelet acknowledged the effort that allowed keeping a large part of Chilean history, particularly when the Augusto Pinoche dictatorship was ruling the country. She stressed that such a patrimony will update current and future generations of Chileans about the history of their country.
