The program of the event includes lectures, round tables and presentations on traumatic injuries.

The theoretical and practical sessions of the event, presided over by the head of the Cuban Society of Orthopedics, Dr. Rodrigo Alvarez Cambras, will take place in four halls of the Dr. Gustavo Aldereguia Lima provincial hospital of Cienfuegos.

Also as part of the congress, more than 20 companies will exhibit their products, used in the orthopedics fields.

Cuba has introduced modern techniques in this medical discipline such as the full shoulder and elbow prosthesis; the replacement of hips in patients with tumors, traumas or infections; and prosthesis of double articulation for hip fractures.

The Cuban Institute of Hematology is also conducting researches with mother cells to treat hip fractures, osteoarthritis and pseudoarthritis.
