According to Cubasi.cu portal, Iván Giroud, director of the festival assured that Brazil, which is coming with around twenty movies and the biggest delegation in history of the December yearly event, is competing in the official section with Linha de passé, by the famous Walter Salles (Diarios de motocicleta, Estación Central de Brasil), Última parade by Bruno Barreto y Maré, Nuestra historia de amor, by Lucía Murat.

For the fiction competition (medium-length and short movies), the bahianas and samba country is bringing Arena, (Caetano Gotardo); Café con leche (Daniel Ribeiro); Entre colores y navajas, (Catarina Accioly, Ibere Carvalho); Por el oído, (Joaquin Kaickel) and Uno por Uno, by Erico Rassi.

The young Brazilean actor-director Selton Melo, very popular in Cuba through his soap operas and the winner of a special acting Coral a few years ago for A la izquierda del padre, is competing in the opera prima competition with the movie Diciembre.

Also, in the same category there will be competing Sandra Kogut with Mutum and Carlos Cortez with Quero.

In the documentaries category Brazil is competing with Diario de Sintra, by Paula María Gaitán; Jogo de cena, by Eduardo Coutinho (who will be payd a special tribute during the movie event) and La mujer que hablaba cosas, by Marcio Andrade.

In the animation competition, Brazilians are participating with Animadores, by Allan Sieber; Hasta el nacer del sol, by Leandro Amorim and Fernando Queiroz, Dosier Re barbosa, by Cesar Cabral; Tierra, by Savio Leite; and Primogénito complejo, by Tomás Creus and Lavinia Chianello.
