Cuba Holds Anesthesiology Congress
Evaluating the results of thousands of surgeries performed in Cuba and around the world as part of the Vision Now (Operacion Milagro in Spanish) program, Cuban specialists said each patient undergoes a full examination before surgery.

Specialists confirmed that during pre-surgery consultation the age of the patient and related pathologies are taken into consideration and complementary examinations are instructed.

During the 8th Congress of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain to end this Friday in Havana, pain relief was other issue discussed.

Mexican MD Eusebio Perez said that the inappropriate handling of pain has severe physical, psycho-emotional and socio-economic effects on the patient, his relatives and public health services.

He stressed the usefulness of anticonvulsive and antidepressant medication especially in the treatment of neuropathies.
