Argentinean Workers Donate to Hurricane Ravaged Cuba
"It is a humble contribution of active support to the country that always comes to lend its hand of solidarity against any disaster that impacts peoples,” declared ATE General Secretary Pablo Miceli, after presenting the donation.

Fuentes described Cuba as a beacon on the road of the battle of ideas, and wondered what how the world of popular fighters would be if Cuba and its Revolution never existed.

During the ceremony, the Cuban ambassador thanked the Argentinean workers’ gesture, calling it a “demonstration of friendship, and sensitivity towards my country, which is recovering with great effort after the battering of hurricanes Gustav and Ike.” Fuentes pointed out that Cuba has suffered $5 billion in loses due to the storms.

“However,” he said, “the country is recovering and we didn’t have to mourn in terms of more human losses (seven overall), because we have an effective civil defense system, backed up by the humanitarian ideas of the Revolution to first save people’s lives,” concluded the diplomat.
