Doctor Martinez Garcia headed the maxillofacial surgery school in Cuba, as well as the services of that specialty in the Havana-based Hermanos Ameijeiras and Fajardo hospitals.

The renowned doctor renounced private medicine to dedicate his time to the development of maxillofacial surgery in all Cuban hospitals. Doctor Martinez Garcia got his ScD degree in 1981 and his rank of Professor Emeritus at the Higher Medical Sciences Institute in 1995.

The renowned specialist was also the author and co-author of nine books and over 30 articles published in medical magazines, as well as scientific videos. He taught different courses in Cuba and in other countries and was granted national and international distinctions.
