Concludes Visit to Cuba the Uruguayan President Tabaré Vazquez

The Uruguayan dignitary expressed his personal appreciation for the support and solidarity with his people demonstrated by the Cuban people and government.
Before concluding his visit, Vazquez visited the Havana-based University of Information Sciences (UCI). The Uruguayan head of state pointed out that the Operation Miracle free eye-surgery program, boosted by Cuba and Venezuela, has already benefited more than 2000 low-income elderly Uruguayans, who have recovered their eyesight.
He commented that during his stay in the Cuban capital, bilateral relations between Uruguay and Cuba have significantly strengthened through the signing of several important cooperation agreements in areas such as science, health and biotechnology.
The Uruguayan head of state expressed his admiration for the accomplishments of the Cuban people over the past five decades. He announced that he has formally invited Cuban president Raúl Castro to visit Uruguay.
During his visit to the University of Information Sciences, Vazquez was presented with the Man of the Future order, the highest distinction granted by the education center to Cuban and world personalities.
Tabaré Vazquez also met with Cuban researchers with the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. Also on hand during the meeting were Cuban Health Minister José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera, Luis Herrera, Director of the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and Agustín Lage, Director of the Molecular Immunology Center.
