Exhibited in UNO: Cuban movie

The exhibition at the UN of the movie El Benny, which tells the story of the life of Bartolomé Maximiliano Moré Gutiérrez, known as Benny Moré, coincides with the celebration in New York of the eighth edition of the Havana Film Festival.

It was precisely this full length movie produced by Jorge Luis Sánchez and the actor Renny Arozarena playing the role of Benny, the one which opened last year the yearly event of this Festival directed by Carole Rosenberg.

On this years edition, the festival inaugurated with the premiere of La noche de los inocentes (The night of the innocents) by the Cuban director Arturo Soto, includes more than forty movies from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador and the United States.

Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela are also present in this movie encounter.

This year, the Festival pays homage to the Cubans Juan Carlos Tabío, director of Fresa y Chocolate (Strawbery and Chocolate), Guantanamera and Lista de espera (Waiting List) and the actor Luis Alberto García, known among other things from his performances in Clandestinos (Undercover), Zafiros and La vida es silbar (Life is a whistle).

The documentary producer Estela Bravo ia also paid tribute to. Among her productions may be found Fidel, Santo Padre y Gloria (Holy Father and Gloria) and Quién soy yo (Who am I).

The Festival and the Queensborough Performing Arts Center announce a musical weekend with the screening of El Benny and a concert by the singer, dancer and actress Chita Rivera, one of Broadways glories with many musical pieces.
