Cuba concluded the construction of 100 houses donated by Venezuela in a community near the Cienfuegos refinery, which will be shortly reopened as a bi-national joint company, "Granma" newspaper reported Monday.

Located just over 155 miles east of Havana, constructors put up houses in the Simon Bolivar district in two months, since the arrival of the prefabricated materials, the daily stated.

The material used is a non-inflammable oil derivative with no toxic gases, and has an additive to protect houses against ultra-violet rays, experts told the publication.

In the visit to Cienfuegos in October, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez promised the donation of those materials to build the houses.
