Yo si puedo
A literacy campaign for adults based on the Cuban program "YO SI PUEDO" will start in Uruguay on Monday with attention to a total of 280 people, it was known here Sunday.

One of the organizers, Yamandu Ferraz, said the plan is coordinated by the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) and the National Administration of Public Teaching.

Statistics from MIDES calculated the number of illiterate people in Uruguay to be about 34,000 people.

The courses will be in groups of 20 students, with the same proportion of men and women, in Bella Union, Artigas, Melo, Las Piedras, Toledo, La Teja and the Zone 11 of Montevideo.

The course is for every adult included in the emergency plan promoted by the government of Tabare Vazquez.
