A group of local volunteers continued their efforts this weekend to make a difference in the lives of some Cuban residents.
They've been involved in a long-running program to ship used medical equipment to hospitals there.
MEMO, otherwise known as the Medical Equipment Modernization Opportunity, was loading up another large shipment valued at approximately $100,000 destined for a Hospital in Placadas, Cuba.
Included in this shipment, is a special addition...a 2002 15-passenger Ford Van, which was donated by a car rental agency in Surrey, British Columbia.
MEMO spokesperson Gary Cooper says being able to provide people with proper medical equipment is a feeling like no other.
MEMO is currently looking at returning to Placadas, Cuba for medical demonstrations in February.
