Cuban medicine ready to counter heart affections

Cuba's health system is in condition to counter heart affections, including acute myocarditis in children.
Myocarditis affects the heart and in most cases is caused by a virus. The main symptoms of the disease are shortage of breath, irritability, fever and diarrheas.
Experts said that conditions have been created to diagnose the disease in children.
Resources have been allocated to intensive units throughout the country, where children suffering from myocarditis are checked constantly through electrocardiograms and heart ultrasound tests.
If the right medication is administered on time, patients are prevented from falling into a shock and suffering from heart failure or arrhythmias that may lead to a more serious condition.
