The Governor of Michoacan, Mexico, Lazaro Cardenas Batel, opened a new state-of-the-art ophthalmic center donated by Cuba to the local general hospital that will be able to treat thousands of patients free.

Cuban Ambassador to Mexico Jorge Bolanos noted that 2,500 locals underwent eye surgery in Cuba, and it was decided to consolidate the surgical infrastructure within Mexico to continue treating the patients.

Bolanos noted that the center is among the most modern in the world and that operations have already begun in conditions of the highest level of excellence.

After mentioning the collaboration Havana maintains with other nations, the ambassador pointed out that without good health it is difficult to achieve development goals.
