Dr. Paul Duran, Neonatal Alliance Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean, praised Thursday in Havana, Cuba results in public health, especially in neonatal, child and maternal branch, calling it an example in the region. Duran emphasized universal access and quality care offered by health professionals in the Caribbean nation from the primary care level.
The PAHO expert, who is participating in the 2015 Nursing Congress, in session at the Palace of Conventions in Havana, said that Cuba, with 4.2 per thousand live births in 2014, is the country in Latin America and Caribbean with the lowest infant mortality rate.
Duran noted that Cuba is actively involved in cooperative activities with other states around the infant and women's health, as well as the training of human resources in this field, through training workshops.
