The nonprofit organization "Operation Walk" based in Los Angeles, California, plans to come to Cuba with 70 doctors on November 11 with the hope of realizing 50 free surgeries.
"Operation Walk" will work at the Medical Surgical Research Center in Havana, the renowned Hospital CIMEQ, according to The Tampa Tribune newspaper.
Patients will pay nothing. Hospital costs for a hip replacement surgery is around 117,000 and $ 119,000 for a knee, according to the site OperationWalk.com.
Personnel services, not including physicians, would cost about $ 115,000 for a mission. Every physician would be about $ 300,000. Cuba will bring eight of them.
