The 14th edition of the International Course on Dengue will be hold at the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kouri, from 10 to 21 August. This is a disease that particularly affects countries in tropical and subtropical areas, whose transmission has increased in recent years in urban areas.
As the website of the event detailed, the main purpose is to discuss issues of great scope and common interest regarding this disease such as "clinical patient management, vector control, advances in research on dengue issues of pathogenesis, vaccines, development of antivirals, genetics of the individual, the virus and the vector, new tools for vector control, the influence of climate change on dengue, the confrontation of emergencies among other aspects of interest.”
In the meeting, which is expected to attend physicians, virologists, immunologists, sociologists, epidemiologists, entomologists, health managers, among others, "results of the implementation of the strategy of Integrated Management that PAHO and the countries develope in the Region of the Americas for the best showdown of dengue.” There will also be a workshop on severe dengue, three-day course on Mathematical Modeling for prediction of dengue and three expert meetings to discuss the progress of multicenter projects, strengthening surveillance and response to outbreaks of dengue and integrated vector management.
