Spanish and American law firms will advise together in Cuba
The Iberian firm Olleros Abogados, who has spent 15 years providing services to customers based in the island, opened a Cuban Desk to integrate their experience and knowledge on the legal dynamics of the Caribbean country.
As part of the normalization between the US and Cuba, the Spanish firm signed a strategic agreement with the US firm McDermott Will & Emery after "coordinate efforts and jointly provide expert advice to US customers, Europeans and Cubans."
The embargo on the island prevents American companies open offices in Cuba or work in its jurisdiction, this represents an opportunity for companies like Olleros which mediate between these companies and the Cuban government.
Jaime Olleros , managing partner of Olleros Abogados, announced that the reorganization of Olleros Abogados in Cuba is a first step for the opening of an office in Havana, as soon as the administration of the island allows it.
