According to a statement from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) published today on its website, they have resumed revalidation services to Cuban doctors, having been approved the license application for the Treasury Department.
Such services were suspended last July 2nd, pending a decision by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Hundreds of Cuban doctors greeted the news with concern. The suspension prevented them from taking any of the three exams that are required for obtaining the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
The request came to have more than 500 signatures and condemned "this unfair and discriminatory policy, which is a clear example of discrimination based on national origin," according to a note in El Nuevo Herald.
