Nearly half a million Cuban children will be immunized as part of the National Polio Vaccination Campaign that takes place from Monday until next March 15.

As reported Dr. Miguel Angel Galindo, advisor to the National Immunization Program of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), at that time they vaccinate 373,962 children from 30 days old to two years, 11 months and 29 days.

Meanwhile, in the second stage of the campaign, from April 27 to May 3, those little receive the second dose and also be reactivated with a dose of polio vaccine to 111 000 323 children aged nine (nine years up to 11 months and 29 days).

Galindo said the immunogen (drops) should not administrárseles to children with high fever, vomiting or diarrhea and should wait 30 minutes before and after vaccination to ingest water. He also clarified that should not be used in immunocompromised infants allergic to any component of the vaccine.

The expert reiterated that polio campaign in 2015 involving all the doctors and nurses of the family of the country, responsible for health of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the Federation of Cuban Women and technical personnel, among others.

Since 1962, when Cuba eliminated polio until 2014 have been implemented in the country about 83 million doses of this preparation, which has guaranteed the protection of the Cuban population less than 68 years old.
