HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 1 (acn) Actions in solidarity with the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters jailed in the US will take place in that country this month long to mark the 12 years of their unjust imprisonment.

On September 12, 1998, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero,Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez were arrested in Miami in an operation launched by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

According to Prensa Latin news agency, the upcoming activities in support of the Cuban Five were recently announced by the US-based International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five. The program includes protests, press conferences by local speakers and visits to government representatives to ask them for support. Also flyers and leaflets with information on the case will be handed down to people on the streets.

As part of the program, an exhibition named "Desde mi altura" of works by Antonio Guerrero will open Friday in New York and a protest in front of the Governmental Television Bureau, in Washington D.C. is scheduled for Monday.

Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Seattle, Chicago, Albuquerque,Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Boston, Philadelphia and Austin will all host actions in favor of the release of the Cuban Five from September 10 to 14.

The International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five called world's groups in solidarity with the Cuban Five to increase their actions making emphasis that victory in this fight will depend on such actions.
