SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba.- The Ernesto Che Guevara Camp in eastern Santiago de Cuba welcomes patients to its new installation with the objective of educating children with asthma.  

With almost two years of existence, this rehabilitation experience is part of a project called “To learn how to breathe is to learn how to live” directed by Dr. Nancy Napoles who also heads the Asthma Commission in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

According to Sierramaestra.cu website, the specialist highlighted the importance in educating children and parents in treating asthma with the objective of increasing the perception level on the risk and manifestation factors.

A multi disciplinary group is made up by pediatricians, nutritionists, nurses, physical education specialists among others that work in the installation located in the Renato Guitart School.

Physical Education expert Mario Coureaux explained that rehabilitation and physical exercises are important for asthma patients, especially when they are combined with yoga and therapeutic games.

To achieve for the children to reduce medicine intake in addition to providing the indispensable tools to live with the ailment, are the main objectives of the specialists that have rehabilitated so far over one thousands local residents in Santiago de Cuba. (ACN)
