A concert dedicated to Cuban composer Juan Blanco (1919-2008), precursor of the electroacoustic music in the country, has opened this Monday the 13th International Festival of Electroacoustic Music, with more than 50 exponents from four continents.

  Spaniard Gregorio Jimenez, Pedro Guajardo and Andres Lewin-Richter will play works conceived to honor Blanco, who founded the National Laboratory of Electroacoustic Music three decades ago.

The opening program includes the exhibition of documentary Juan, directed by Cubans Lester Hamlet and Rene Arencibia, which is part of the Series Person and Thought, with the general direction of Alfredo Guevara and production of Iberautor, from the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers.

Musicians from 17 Latin American countries, Europe, China and the United States will give liven up the opening. There will be given two concerts a day, with international repertoire.

The academic sessions include conferences and workshops, where will take part German DJs Gabriel Ananda and Marcel Janovsky among others.

The 13th International Festival of Electroacoustic Music will last until Sunday 20.
