Singer songwriters from Cuba and other countries will perform for 12 hours in this eastern Cuban city, during an international festival to honor Jose Pepe Sanchez, one of the country's major composers.

The concert, which will take place in front of Casa de la Trova, in this provincial capital, is part of the Pepe Sanchez International Festival, scheduled for March 17-21, according to organizers.

Artists from Cuba, Japan, the Dominican Republic, Spain, France, Venezuela and Argentina will participate in the festival, which will be dedicated to female singer songwriters.

The big concert, held in Cuba for the first time, will begin at 6 pm on March 18 and will end at 6 am on the next day, when participants will make a pilgrimage to the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery to pay tribute to Jose Pepe Sanchez on his birthday.

Festival President Eduardo Sosa confirmed the presence of Cuban singer songwriters Miriam Ramos and Sara Gonzalez, and Dominican singer Sonia Silvestre.

The book "Trovadoras", written by Antonio Lopez Sanchez and published by Editorial Oriente, will be launched during the festival.
