Cuban Minister of Culture Abel Prieto toured the facility accompanied by the first secretary of the Party in Ciego de Avila, Jorge Luis Tapia, and AHS national president, Luis Morlote. "We hope this center will become a hotbed of culture and the arts for young people in the province and for their spiritual enrichment."
The new facility has a gallery, a small theatre, an Internet computer hall, a library and several meeting rooms. A collective exhibition of large-format drawings by local artists was opened to mark the inauguration of the center.
The Hermanos Saiz Association was established in 1986. It is a national organization that gathers young Cuban writers, musicians, directors and artists with the purpose of preserving Cuban identity and culture. The association has more than 3,500 members spread throughout the country.
Also attending the inauguration ceremony were the president of the Cuban Book Institute, Zuleika Romay; National Prize for Literature laureates Jaime Sarusky and Reynaldo González; the president of the Government in Ciego de Ávila, José Ignacio Venegas; and the first secretary of the Communist Youth League in Ciego de Ávila, Yamila Cruz.
