Important investment projects in water supply aimed at improving the quality of life of the people of Holguin —a province in eastern Cuba— were discussed at a meeting of the provincial Council of Administration.

Ines Chapman, representative of the National Institute for Water Resources (INRH) in Holguin, explained that this program to rehabilitate the water supply network began in June 2007. They are currently working on the replacement of pumping equipment.

According to Chapman, the plan also includes the renovation of the Gibara and Banes networks, the construction of the San German aqueduct in the municipality of Urbano Noris, which is expected to grow other 25 kilometres in 2010, for the benefit of 40,000 people.
