Cubans eagerly awaited the news released this week announcing the groupings for the 2010 World Volleyball League.

After obtaining surprisingly good results in the 2009 season, finishing fourth, this year they head Group D, debuting on June 4 against Argentina.

On June 11 and 12, Cuba travels to Europe to take on the Germans and then returns to Cuba for a home series against Poland June 17 and 18.

In other groupings, current world leader Brazil heads Group A made up of Bulgaria, Holland and South Korea. Serbia, second in 2009, heads group B that includes Italy, France and China.

Russia, who finished third last year, heads group C with United States, Finland and Egypt.

The 2010 World Volleyball League classificatory rounds will finish June 10 with the finals taking place from July 21 to 25 in Cordoba, Argentina.
