On Saturday night six members of the Bolshoi Ballet, including Anna Antonicheva danced in Cuba, the first time the company appeared there since 1980, alternating performances with the Cuban National Ballet at the Karl Marx Theater, Reuters reported.
Cuba has a strong ballet tradition; a number of major dancers in the West have emerged from it. On Thursday the annual Havana International Book Fair opened, with an emphasis on Russian literature. Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, gave the inaugural speech at the fair, the news agency said.
