Olympic games 2008, it is the fourth time wrestlers Mijail López and Russian Khazam Baroev, two giants of 120 kilograms in the classical wrestling, were face to face.

The results between them: The Russian has two wins, the Cuban has only one. Baroev deprived Mijaín of the medal discussion in Athens 2004 and defeated him in the World Championship final held in Guanzhou, China 2006.

Thereafter, the Pinar del Río native made his strength count. He defeated Baroev in the decisive battle in Baku 2007 as well as in Beijing 2008.

Mijaín López, three times world champion in Hungary 2005, Azerbaijan 2007, Denmark 2009, and four times Cuba’s best athlete, is not happy these days.

The 6´4 wrestler, 123 kg, and 27 years of age, is unable to attend the upcoming World Cup in Yerevan, Armenia, to be held on February 13th-14th. Thus, it deprives him of extending his string of victories, which began in 2007. He will go under surgery in his right elbow.  Luckily, he is recovering fast.

The truth is that "when the cat is away the mice come out and play”, and in the absence of Mijail in Yerevan, the other wrestlers have more chances to win the title.

Wrestler Yasmani Acosta will go as a “pinch hitter”, but the contender for the podium will be 84kg Pablo Shorey; bronze medalist in the Danish city. The roster is completed by Gustavo Balart (55), Maykel Anache (60), Alexander Casals (66), Maylen Consuegra (74) and Yasmani Lugo (96).
