More than 3,000 delegates from 60 countries, including 20 ministers, are attending as of Monday the 7th edition of the University 2010 Congress at Havana''s International Conference Center.

About 14 pre-congress courses, included one on the universalization of higher education in Cuba which is close to graduate its first million students since the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, have taken place before the official opening.

Among participants in the forum that will last until February 12, there are also 215 university deans from throughout the world, 45 presidents of Deans Associations and representatives from international organizations.

The presentation of 2,123 papers, 1,563 of them from abroad, is also included in this 7th event.

Parallel to this congress 13 workshops were scheduled with extensive diversity of criteria about the role of university in society.

Quality of education and its impact in post-graduate teaching are among issues to be debated by participants, as well as the Seventh Assembly of the Ibero-American Network for Quality Accreditation of Higher Education.

Also on the list of activities there is a meeting of professionals graduated in Cuba who will exchange their experiences, and visits to Cuban institutions like the Computer Sciences and Medical Sciences universities, both in Havana.
