Carlos Varela
A different music is the title of the photo exhibition with a documentary theme on the presentation of the Cuban troubadour, Carlos Varela, in the capital of Pinar del Rio, opened to the public at Korda gallery.

That hall founded in the House of the Unión de Periodistas de Cuba (Union of Cuban Journalists) (UPEC in Spanish), in this city, is welcoming twelve pieces from the work José Sergio Chávez, from now until the end of February, according to the newspaper Guerrillero.

In respect to this exhibition, experts highlight the testimonial value of the images, which are most of them signed by the singer and composer, who was born on April 11, 1963 in Havana, and a member, together with other artists of the so called Novísima Trova, a space that appeared during the 1980's within the Cuba cultural panorama.

A graduate from the Theater Specialty in the Higher Art Institute (ISA in Spanish), Varela gives his shows a dramatic, emotional and poetic sense, aside from the music, qualities that have been captured by the photographer from Pinar del Rio in his pictures.

This minstrel stands out by the urban sense of his lyrics, while the sound is closer to rock than to typical Cuba music and his songs are known all over the world for his discography and international tours.
