More than 300,000 Cuban youngsters will elect for the first time in the upcoming partial elections delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of the People's Power, mass media reported on Wednesday.

The number of new voters joined to the list of those over 16 years included in the electoral roll until April 25, first round of the process, sources of the National Electoral Commission (CEN) told Juventud Rebelde newspaper.

The 15,093 delegates will be elected that date, and on May 2, in second round, in case that any candidate achieves more than the 50 percent of the issued valid votes.

They will meet later to make up the country's 169 Municipal Assemblies, and choose presidents and vice presidents.

CEN President Ana Maria Mari told press that constituency commissions will start checking voters' information today, to prepare the definitive electoral registers.

Meanwhile, electoral organization's vice president Ruben Perez stated that the nomination of candidates will start in neighbourhoods on February 24 and end a month later.
