The Cuban music band ‘Moncada’ will perform in a mega-concert for peace and the protection of the environment that to take place in Beijing, the Chinese capital, on April 17.
    
Speaking to Prensa Latina news agency, Rick Garson, executive director of the concert, said “they are good musicians and that is why we invited them.”

According to the organizers of the event, more than 35 groups and artists from several countries are expected to participate in the free concert, with an estimated audience of over two billion people.

The director of Moncada, Jorge Gomez, said the invitation is an honour for the group and added that it not only recognizes their work but also the high quality of Cuban music.

He announced that during the concert, scheduled to take place in front of the Bird’s Nest stadium, they will sing several songs of their new CD ‘En el mismo lugar’ (At the Same Place).

Gomez recalled that his group has traditionally sung to peace and stressed that musicians can have a significant influence to build a better world through the universal language of music.

He also recalled that Moncada performed in China during the 2008 Olympic Games and announced that they have also been invited to sing during the Shanghai 2010 World Expo during the day dedicated to Cuba on July 26.
