A new birthday of Camaguey city is approaching. The 496th anniversary of the town will be on February 2nd, same day its urban historical centre was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO last year.

So, the week of culture will be held to salute this important date, now with new opportunities to exhibit how much has been done by the movement of amateur and professional artists.

In this commemorative week, they will also set forth achievements and perspectives of the system of culture in the former village of Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe.

Cuba´s International Book Fair will also have a significant impact when it reaches the province on March, taking into account the reputation that has preceded it with other editions of the fair, which the most awaited cultural event organized by the Ministry of Culture with the help of other State-run institutions.

Therefore, Camaguey is getting ready to keep on consolidating its contribution in this sphere of social life, considered a nationwide strength of this province, strengthening its community arts centres and the cultural system as a whole.
