Compiled by the Cuban journalist Ciro Bianchi, the book Lezama disperse puts together also texts by the author of Paradise published in exhibition catalogues of paintings and in the covers of volumes from other colleagues.
The compilation, published by the editorial of the Cuban writers and artists, was launched in the usual Sábado del libro, (Saturday with books), in the Palacio del Segundo Cabo, in Havana´s Historical Centre.
Born in 1910, Lezama Lima was also an essay writer.
His novel Paradiso (Paradise), considered being the summit of his work, is one of the most important ones in Spanish language. According to the critic, there “comes together his baroque and symbolic poetry in his career.”
He founded, together with Cintio Vitier, Eliseo Diego and Gastón Baquero the Orígenes magazine during the 1940´s, one of the most important publications of its kind in Latin America and in Cuban Literary History.
Lezama Lima said about it: “the generations of authors of Orígenes was truly the one that imposed the new expression and the modern spirit.”
