The permanent commissions of the Cuban People's Power National Assembly ended in Havana on Thursday.

The two-day deliberations prior to the Parliament's ordinary period of sessions included the 12 Commissions where wide discussions on important issues dealing with the country's political, economic and social situation were made at Havana's Conference Centre.

Guidelines of the National Economy Plan and the Budget proposal for 2010 were among the top issues debated.

Representatives of national ministries and other government's agencies attended the meetings to inform legislators about their organizations' work in 2009 and goals for 2010.

The Health and Sports commission continued reporting about the anti-vector campaign, recreation, and how to use spare time.

The International Relations Commission discussed the current world campaign for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in US jails.

The Energy and Environment Commission analyzed energy-saving plans and efficiency of environmental protection measures.

The Education, Culture and Technology Commission reported on the civic, judicial and city preparation program in educational subsystems.

The Agricultural and Food Commission discussed arrangements for the next sugarcane harvest and the fulfilment of imports’ replacement in several food sectors.
