ALBA Cultural project announced the creation of a network for the audio visual alternatives which will allow a bigger integration and support of the filmmakers of the region.

The initiative was presented at the Havana Film festival and has the goal of establishing a mechanism of promotion and collaboration, between Latin American and Caribbean entities.

Likewise, it will stimulate the production of works that are characterized by its quality and a high commitment with the social and cultural realities of the continent.

Luis González Nieto, the vice president of the Cuban cinema institute, explained that over 80 countries do not have a support to give a boost to the audio visual production. Many communities could be benefited with this proposal.

The alternative network can be an important way that allows "the co-production, promotion, formation, commercialization, distribution and exhibition of the works made by creators from this area".

The ALBA Cultural Fund made public the third call to the Award Latinoamérica Primera Copia) Latin America First Copy), which contributes to the create movies in the area, with the technical of financial support.

Ivan Giroud, the president of the Havana competition – exhibition, stated that the project, since its creation in 2008 has given good results. In its first edition, the award was given to the movies Gigante (Uruguay) and Andrés no quiere dormir la siesta (Argentina).

The first movie won the Silver Bear in Berlin and the second won three awards in Trieste, now both movies are competing in Cuba.
