Novia Mía and El canto a mis abuelos are the new record titles currently in production by maestro Frank Fernandez, said the honored and famous Cuban pianist and soloist.

Invited to the celebrations of the 139th anniversary for the granting of Village title to Guantánamo and its coat of arms, Fernandez told ACN that the albums are made by the FF Sonido and Colibrí record labels.

He commented that El canto a mis abuelos, which is expected to be in the market later this month, opens with a flamenco song.

It has folk songs by Federico García Lorca and closes with a guaguancó of his authorship performed by Los Muñequitos de Matanzas.

The album also offers the suite Zapateo por derecho, La Contradanza, and the especially composed track for album, Tres estados del alma.

Fernandez recalled his Mayarí origin, in Holguin, and stressed his liking for popular music, outside divisive dogmas with classical genres, reasons behind the second compact disc (CD), dedicated to the wife.

He explained that Novia Mía (popular content) compiles his favorite songs, which he recreates in the piano at home and leisure hours, dedicated to his beloved wife, as the song: Para Alina.

Other themes, always with arrangements by Frank Fernandez, are Novia Mía, by Jose Antonio Mendez, Rabo de Nube, by Silvio Rodriguez, Tú, mi delirio, by Cesar Portillo de la Luz; El breve espacio, by Pablo Milanes, Perla Marina, by Sindo Garay and
Ausencia, by Jaime Prats, all in piano versions.
