Traditionally, Holguin has been a tough rival for Santiago de Cuba, even when the nicknamed ‘Black Wasps’ were at the top.
Holguin has just come from a two week tour playing off Cuban central and western squads with an average of six wins and six defeats, and today it has so far won 14 games and lost 16.
Santiago is now ranking fourth in the Eastern Division while Holguin goes last before the last one.
Some stars of Cuban baseball play in Santiago squad, Alexei Bell with an average of .420. (leader) and Hector Olivera the best two double base hit man in the country.
Edilse Silva of Holguin is the man of three base hits along with Adonis Garcia of Ciego de Avila with 4.
Holguin has made so far 30 homeruns, and its best man, Leris Aguilera, is the team’s leader with 9.
