The Cuban band Van Van celebrated here its first tour decades with the pre-preview of the documentary Eso que anda, a resume of its trajectory since December 4, 1969.

The celebration for the anniversary also includes a concert at the Karl Marx theater from the capital, next December 9, in which there will be invited personalities from Cuban music, among them, Omara Portuondo and Cesar Pedroso (Pupy) and Pedro Calvo, founders of the band.

Under the direction of the young movie maker Ian Padrón, Eso que anda held a pre-preview for the press recently. To that screening assisted the director of the band, Juan Formell.

This is the best gift Van Van could have in this forty years, stated the musician in a dialogue with the press, who added that the movie is the life reflection of the band.

The producer gets into the universe of Cuban timba, a variation of son, in these 75 minutes, starting from a tour made by the band around the country in 2006, which was seen by a million people.

Padrón worked for three years without interruption in order to shoot this testimony, which he classified as a huge challenge.

You feel as if you were touching history, he pointed out.

The documentary collects opinions of personalities such as Pablo Milanés, who stands out the work done by Formell as a composer and arranger.

Van Van will end its festivities for its 40th birthday in the Cali Salsa World festival, Colombia and in Panama.
