According to experts of the agricultural branch from La Sierpe, the rice entity in the region, nearly four thousand hectares lost extension and are mostly facing poor drainage.
Specialists from the local Environment Agency, the environmental stressors at the south coast, coming from tourist buildings and sewage treatment systems and the rest of polluting sources affect the rice program so they are systematically and jointly
monitored with the relevant agencies in every case.
Due to the circumstances and economic decisions, the pollutant load of sugar mills and paper mills has ceased, thus improving the environmental conditions in an area blessed to produce a grain that becomes a basic dish for all cubans.
